AfterCollege Virtual Career Fairs Bring More Local Jobs to Job Seekers

Star Tribune and MediaNews Group Among First Media Companies to Launch Successful Virtual Career Fairs With AfterCollege

SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(MARKET WIRE)–Oct 16, 2007 – AfterCollege, Inc., the nation's largest career network specializing in recruitment at the college level, today announced the successful launch of the first virtual career fairs by two of its media partners. The Lowell Sun, part of MediaNews Group, Inc., and The Minneapolis Star Tribune both produced successful local, private-label online career fairs using AfterCollege's virtual career fair technology.

Newspapers partnering with AfterCollege are able to connect local employers with job seekers by producing local online events. Newspapers can focus on the promotion of these career fairs while AfterCollege hosts and maintains the events through its hosted platform, which gives newspapers control over customization and the management of online registrations.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune recently produced a virtual career fair with twenty-five employers, attracting over 1,000 local job seekers to the event. The success of the career fair was partly due to the ability of job seekers to participate remotely, as compared to traditional job fairs. Jamie Flaws, Executive Sales Director for the Star Tribune, said, "We are very happy with the success of our first virtual career fair. AfterCollege's platform is straightforward and clean, allowing job seekers to easily maneuver on the site and access employer information."

"The launch of our virtual career platform is an exciting development for AfterCollege. We are thrilled with the success of our media partners' virtual events and we look forward to helping them produce more events," said Michael Dawes, Vice President of Channel Partnerships for AfterCollege.
